Gig Reviews – International Rescue and Punctured Tough Guy

International Rescue at Sounds 83 - Burton Constable Hall One of my favourite local bands from the early 80s, who I saw play live several times was International Rescue. Along with The Red Guitars, Indians in Moscow, the Luddites and poet Swift Nick they were featured in a Hull Bands Special on the Tube in 1983  International Rescue’s performance was filmed at Hull ’s legendary Spiders nightclub. Back in the 80s Spiders was one of only a handful of clubs catering for people who weren’t into mainstream/chart music and who begrudged paying through the nose for their drinks. The club is still going strong today and has always stayed true to its roots, although I have to say nowadays it is my sons who are more likely to frequent the place, than me!  I managed to find a great article on the Spiders website , where there is a reference to International Rescue being filmed there and a little about the history of the club.
